MASTERCHEF runner-up Steve Barringer is relishing a Christmas out of the kitchen while the career opportunities come flooding in following his success on the hit BBC show.
Viewers saw talented Steve, who learned his trade at Luton’s Barnfield College, narrowly miss out on the Masterchef: The Professionals crown to Australian chef Ash Mair in Thursday night’s final.
But Steve, who watched the series finale with fellow finalists Ash and Claire Hutchings in London, is proud to have made it so far in the contest and been able to showcase his culinary skills.
He said: “It makes me even more proud to have seen it back because I know it wasn’t an easy decision for the judges to make.
“I had some cracking comments, for Michel Roux Jr (one of the show’s judges alongside Gregg Wallace) to say such nice things is amazing as he’s always been an idol of mine.
“I was pleased that Ash won, I think he worked hard. I think all three of us deserved to win.”
