A CHARITY which helps vulnerable people in Luton announced it will close down following significant funding cuts today.

Advocacy Alliance, which also works in Northamptonshire and Bedford, supports thousands of people in living independent lives.

It has worked for 18 years to enable them to have their voices and opinions heard, and offer advice.

A statement on the Advocacy Alliance website said: “ We are very proud of the work we have done, but unfortunately having considered all options we recognise that we do not have the funding to continue.

“The decision to intend to close follows reductions in funding and narrowly missing out on securing re-designed advocacy contracts from Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton Borough Councils.”

People in Luton will be supported by Advocacy Alliance until the end of March, when the provider of advocacy will change to PohWER.
