STUDENTS from Cardinal Newman School beat students from across Bedfordshire to the trophy in a business competition.
The Cranfield Business Challenge is an annual event at Cranfield University, where teams of GCSE students compete to win a trophy for the best simulated business.
The winning team from Cardinal Newman was made up of year 10s Jessica Gajewski, Klaudia Bojanowska, Shannon Bradley, Sydney Cornforth and Megan Foxen.
Megan Foxen said: “The day was a huge success that was highly educational but extremely enjoyable. We would all like to thank Mr Ottaway for organising the trip and to Mr Hegarty for teaching us the theory!”
There were three teams from Cardinal Newman, and along with teams from Biddenham, Putteridge, Barnfield West Academy and Bedford Academy, they had to operate in a simulated business enviornment trying to sell ‘widgets’ to a market.
They had to consider factors such as advertising, capacity utilisation and efficiency to be the team that finished with the most equity.
Business studies teacher Andy Ottaway said: “All the students are a credit to the school, their families and most of all themselves for the mature way that they approached such a difficult challenge. Well done.”
