AN appeal has been launched to save the tower of a picturesque 14th Century church popular for weddings.
St Margaret’s Church in Streatley is built from Totternhoe clunch, which has eroded over the years and now needs repairing by specialist stonemasons.
The repairs will cost £180,000, and the Friends of Streatley Church have launched an appeal to raise £15,000 from the public.
It is hoped the remainder can be made up from church contingency funds and grants.
The first appeal event is a concert by the Bedfordshire Police Choir at the church on Saturday, March 3. Tickets are available by telephoning 01582 508322 or 01582 592616.
