An event organised by the friends of a woman who has a rare genetic condition raised more than £1,000 to help her travel to a specialist conference in the USA.
Sarah Burgess, 33, of Luton, was diagnosed with Mucolipidosis Type 3 when she was eight years old. It is a disease that causes her bones to crumble, and she has had more than 20 operations.
The live music event at The Bear Club last month was organised by her friends who wanted to help her raise money to go to the 4th International Conference of Glycoproteinoses.
They raised £1,059 on the night, bringing her total up to £2,400.
Sarah said: “The fundraiser at The Bear Club was incredible. I was so overwhelmed with how it went and how many people came.
“I am grateful for the support, donations and help from everyone.”
The conference is in July for one week. She wants to learn more about her condition from experts from across the world.
