Arriva Buses is seeking a collection of regionally-inspired names for their brand new fleet of 13 single deck micro-hybrid buses that will provide customers across Luton with a more comfortable and stylish way to travel.
Having invested £1.5m in the delivery of 13 new vehicles to bolster routes that serve Farley Hill, Runfold and Hockwell Ring, Arriva are keen to officially mark their arrival by giving each bus an individual and unique identity that will aptly reflect the local community.
As such, Arriva’s customers are now being asked to submit their thoughts on notable people who hail from throughout the Luton area, who they believe deserve to be immortalised on board the new vehicles.
Arriva’s General Manager, Linsey Frostick said: “We’re hoping that these new vehicles will make a real difference to our customers in Luton, but to make sure they truly become part of the community here, we wanted to instil some local pride in them by naming each one in honour of some the town’s most deserving individuals.
“We want to hear about your local heroes - the people or groups that make this community great. Old or young, if they have achieved something outstanding which you think is worthy of some real applause, then we can help you do just that by having their names appear on the outside of one of our buses, as well as being featured on commemorative plaque on the inside.”
To nominate someone, please either email us their name and why you’d like to name a bus in their honour to names@arriva.co.uk, or contact us via Facebook or on Twitter.
Postal entries should be sent to Arriva Competitions, C/o E M Ginever, Arriva UK Bus, Ascot Drive, Off London Road, Derby, DE24 8ND.
The top ten names will be inscribed on individual commemorative plaques on buses across the fleet. The remaining three vehicles will be named by staff and drivers at the Luton depot.
