Luton’s quality restaurants will be a major focus for the Bedfordshire Food & Drink Awards, which have been launched in the town.
Luton Borough Council is sponsoring the Luton Restaurant of the Year category to put the focus on those venues with a food hygiene rating of three or higher.
Cllr Aslam Khan, Luton Council’s portfolio holder for Public Health, said: “We encourage all food businesses with a hygiene rating of 3 or more to nominate themselves for one or more of the food award categories, and encourage their customers to vote too. Winning a food business award and a hygiene rating to be proud of is something we would all encourage. So please get voting, and help us to celebrate the many excellent restaurants here in Luton.”
Damian Cummins, of the Bedfordshire Food & Drink Awards, said: “Luton has much to be proud of in the diversity and range of food and drink venues. From Bangladesh, Ireland, the UK, India, Pakistan, Poland and many other cultures, the town has become a melting pot of food styles and brilliant restaurants, attracting customers from across Bedfordshire and beyond.“
The Bedfordshire Food & Drink Awards has already received more than 70 nominations from around the county and people are already voting for their favourites. The winners will be decided on the number of votes.
The Luton Restaurant of the Year category is one of 14, covering everything from artisan bakers to microbreweries and pubs.
