Ashcroft High School is asking former students to join the alumni and support current students.
The Crawley Green Road school recently registered with Future First, the charity that believes every state school or college should be supported by an alumni or community that helps it to do more for its students.
Alex Shapland-Howes, managing director of Future First, said: “More than 39 per cent of state school students do not know anyone in a job they would like to do.
“If they see that someone who went to the same school, grew up in the same community, has achieved a fulfilling and satisfying job, it helps them to see it is possible for them too.”
They can help inspire students in a number of different ways.
Julie Clarke, Ashcroft High deputy head teacher, said: “We signed up to Future First’s scheme straight away. A network of past pupils with all their valuable experience will be vital in helping us to broaden current pupils’ jobs horizons and equip them for the world of work.”
Former students can contact jclarke@ashcrofthighschool.co.uk if they are interested in signing up.
