STAFF at a salon in Luton are celebrating being awarded a four-star rating by the Good Salon Guide.
Strand in Sundon Park, which opened on Valentine’s Day in 2011, is going from strength to strength as it is also nominated for East of England Salon of the Year Hair and Beauty Awards 2012.
Owner Michelle Haddrell said: “The Good Salon Guide is the long-awaited measure that enables clients to know their hairdresser is a true professional.
“We are delighted to have achieved independent recognition of this salon’s standards.”
Michelle now employs seven staff having started with two, and is also keen to involve the salon in the community by organising charity events and sponsoring the local youth football team Crawley Green Panthers.
She said: “We’re already working towards the maximum five stars which we are hoping to get by the end of the year.”
Dawson Penn, chairman of the Good Salon Guide, said: “I am delighted that Strand has succeeded in reaching the standards required to become a member of the Good Salon Guide.
“The Good Salon Guide highlights the professional status of hairdressers and will ensure that clients can have confidence in their choice of hairdresser.”
