Active Luton has launched a campaign which aims to inspire residents to become fit and healthy in 2015.
The #BeInspired campaign uses seven stories of Lutonians who have transformed their lives as a result of using Active Luton’s facilities.
The #BeInspired campaign uses seven stories of Lutonians who have transformed their lives as a result of using Active Luton’s facilities.
Geraldine Tate, 34, uses the facilities at Inspire: Luton Sports Village.
She said: “I have been a member with Active Luton since September 2013 and my quality of life is much better now, I am fit and living an active, healthy lifestyle.
“I find lots of things much easier; I can fit in a plane seat and cross my legs!
“I know it sounds silly but it really is the small things that make the difference.
“What inspired me to use the centre was after I snapped my Achilles. After my operation and physio I put on a lot of extra weight when I was already big to start with.
“I started with aqua aerobics I was too big to support my own body weight! After that I moved onto swimming.
“I was originally the person who did bodypump with no weight! I was also the person who did body combat with no jumping as I could only step it.
“But now, I am running marathons and taking part in fitness days. The sense of pride and achievement of my fitness level now is amazing.”
Chief executive of Active Luton, Helen Barnett, said: “A lot of people make resolutions in the New Year to be more healthy and we wanted to help them along by providing seven real-life stories of inspirational Lutonians who have turned their lives around for the better.
“We have a friendly and experienced team of professionals who can come up with a fitness plan to suit you and your lifestyle. Come along and see for yourself. There has never been a better time to join.”
