AN ITALIAN restaurant caught fire in Guildford Street in Luton this morning.
Fire crews were called to Villa Ada at 1.15am following reports of a two-storey building fire with people inside.
By 1.25am all persons were accounted for and firefighters had dealt with the fire by 01.42am.
The ground floor of the flat was 50 per cent fire damaged and 100 per cent smoke damaged.
Bedfordshire Police are treating the fire as suspicious.
At 01.40am, Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service received another call to Guildford Street with reports of a gas leak.
One unit from Dunstable and one from Stopsley attended but were unable to detect gas with the gas monitor as it was in the open air, so the issue was left in the hands of the gas company.
