Pirton Hill Primary school choir led the informal carols sing-along at the annual Department of Health carol concert at Richmond House, Whitehall, last week.

Music teacher Mark Newport joined the choir at the concert, hosted by the Department of Health Christian Network Group.

A range of traditional and modern carols were sung by the 25-strong choir.

A collection was held for homeless charities, Crisis and Shelter.

Debbie Thompson, Pirton Hill Primary headteacher, said: “This was an amazing opportunity for the children who have been rehearsing over the past few weeks and have also performed at London Luton Airport and at St Margaret’s Church in Luton.

“The children were once again fantastic ambassadors for Pirton Hill Primary School and we are very grateful to the Department for Health and Dr and Mr Newport for providing the children with this wonderful experience.”

After the concert the choir had lunch in the Department of Health’s boardroom, where they were visited by Secretary of State for Health, Jeremy Hunt MP.

The pupils were taken on a tour and saw some of London’s iconic buildings.
