Pirton Hill Primary pupils showcased new sport, Fiitball, with BBC Sports Presenter Mike Bushell.

The game was developed by former Luton Town coach Tony McCool and former Luton Town player Kevin Gallen.

It is a mix of football, netball, basketball and American football, with its own rules that allow increased participation.

Children have the chance to learn good team working skills, improve individual technical co-ordination, agility and balance.

Phil Martin, Pirton Hill Primary PE teacher, said: “At Pirton Hill Primary School we are always looking at new and enjoyable ways to engage the children in physical activity and build on the amazing success the school has had over the last few years.”

BBC Sports Presenter Mike Bushell visited the school to watch the game being played and he joined in.

Mr Martin added: “Fiitball is a great sport that allows the children to demonstrate skills learnt in other invasion games and work together as a team to achieve and be successful.

“Due to the structure of this game, it is an ideal sport for boys and girls and different age groups and abilities to play together.”

“It was a privilege to be selected by Tony and the BBC to showcase this new sport and as always the behaviour and attitude of the pupils were outstanding and continues to show why Pirton Hill is an amazing school with truly amazing children.”
