Beds Police have released CCTV images of a man wanted in connection with a burglarly in Luton.

The crime took place at Sundown Park Road on Sunday November 9 as the victim returned home and disturbed the burglar while he was searching the property.

The burglar deceived the victim into thinking he was a police officer, assuring him that a burglar had been arrested at the house and was waiting in a police car outside.

He then managed to persuade the victim to hand over his wallet and bank details, and told him to wait for a uniformed officer. He then left the house.

The stolen bank cards were later used at Tesco Express on Calverton Road in Luton at 6.10pm the same day.

Detective Constable Tim Worden said: “This was an unusual case as the offender first broke into the victim’s home and then persuaded him to hand over his credit details so he could take money for his accounts.

“We’d like to hear from anyone who might recognise the man pictured on CCTV as we believe he may have important information which could assist our investigation.

“I’d like to warn people to not let anybody into their home without seeing proper identification. If someone says they are a police officer they will show you their warrant card and be happy for you to check by calling 101 to verify it.”

Anyone with information contact DC Tim Worden on 101 or text information to 07786 200011.
