Police have arrested a fifth teenager after a man was stabbed in broad daylight in Luton town centre on Monday afternoon.
The 18-year-old man suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the incident, which happened in Lower Wellington Street at about 12.45pm.
He was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital in a stable condition.
A number of people were involved in the fight, which started outside Lloyds Bank on George Street.
Officers attended and arrested four people on suspicion of affray– two 17-year-old boys and two men aged 18 and 19.
Another 17-year-old was arrested late on Monday.
All were held in custody.
Lower Wellington Street was cordoned off for most of Monday while scenes of crime officers continued their investigations.
Detective Inspector Sean Quinn, investigating, said: “This is being treated as an isolated incident between two groups of people.
“We are continuing our enquiries and are trawling through CCTV to identify anyone who was involved in the incident.”
