PATIENT satisfaction is improving at Bedford Hospital according to the results of a new survey released this week.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) national outpatient department survey asked 420 people treated in Bedford Hospital’s outpatient clinics between June and October last year to rate the service they had received.
94 per cent described their overall rating of care as good, very good or excellent. 86 per cent said they were treated with respect and dignity all of the time, and 83 per cent said that they were definitely given enough privacy when discussing their condition or treatment.
78 per cent reported that they definitely had confidence and trust in the doctor examining and treating them, and 67 per cent felt that they were definitely involved as much as they wanted to be in decisions about their care and treatment.
Hospital chief executive Joe Harrison, said: “I am delighted to see that patient satisfaction levels are so high and that we have improved since the last outpatient survey just over two years ago.
“More than 260,000 patients were treated in our outpatients’ clinics last year, with staff across the hospital working hard to provide excellent standards of care and services in an efficient and timely way.
“We know we have areas where we need to improve, and will be working to address those areas as well as continuing our good performance in others.”
