A new Tesco Express store on Eaton Green Road celebrated its launch with a donation to the Luton based homeless charity, LAMP.

John Archer, CEO from the charity, was the guest of honour when it officially opened on Tuesday, October 28.

The store chose to donate £500 to the charity as part of its commitment to supporting the local community.

Gemma Chinnick, store manager, said: “We would like to thank John for joining us for our launch celebrations, it was great to meet him and learn more about the invaluable work LAMP does for the Luton community and surrounding areas.”

LAMP helps to prevent homelessness through education, outreach and mediation support.

Mr Archer said: “I would like to thank Tesco for thinking of us with this donation and for inviting us to join Gemma and her team in opening the store.

“As an organisation with strong roots in the Luton community, we often depend on the support of local people and businesses, like Tesco, and this donation will go straight towards helping young people who need it most.”
