A LUTON-based waste management firm was in the right place at the right time to help a Bedfordshire charity.
Cawleys, in Covent Garden Close, was able to take eight chairs and three desks from Cranfield University to the Bedford base of Carers in Bedfordshire.
Carers in Bedfordshire has recently won a tender to take over all services to support family carers in Bedfordshire, and their new offices were in much need of more furniture.
Growing from four carers in 2004, the organisation now employs 22 staff supporting 2,500 carers through activities such as home visits, outings and breaks that take place at different locations around Bedfordshire.
Yvonne Clark, chief executive of Carers in Bedfordshire, said: “It is great to have support from different groups in our local area, helping our organisation have suitable office equipment.”
Kate Cawley, of Cawleys, said: “We were delighted to be able to help out with the logistics for this generous donation. Although our headquarters in Luton are served by their own carers’ organisation, it was good to help out with a local organisation that helps so many in Bedfordshire.”
