Farley Junior School received 25 Kindle Paperwhite e-readers and a £2000 gift card to purchase new titles for pupils to read in the classrooms and libraries. Team members from the Marston Gate Amazon fulfilment centre made the delivery on Monday, October 20.
David Bradshaw, associate headteacher at the junior school, said: “We are extremely grateful to Amazon for this kind donation. The Kindles will be a vital addition to our resources.”
Ashley Cowan, general manager at Marston Gate, said: “At Amazon we love reading and we are delighted to be able to provide Kindles to these great local schools.
“We employ hundreds of people at our fulfilment centre here in Marston Gate, many of who have personal connections with these schools.
“Our fulfilment centre employees were all involved in selecting the schools and it’s great to see such a fantastic response from the children.”
Mr Bradshaw added: “The children are very excited about using the Kindles in the class, which we are sure will help foster a love of literature.”
