Chantry Primary Academy pupils got their boots on last week to raise money for charity.

They took part in a sponsored penalty shoot out, organised by the Sports Connections Foundation.

The charity uses sport to help and inspire children in the UK and Africa.

They brought a massive inflatable goal to the school which records the speed of each child who shoots at the goal.

Jamie Kelly, assistant head teacher. said: “The event was a lot of fun, all the children were able to take part, as soon as they kicked the ball, their speed popped up on the screen. The feedback from the children was fantastic, they really enjoyed it, it was well received by parents as well, that is why we are able to raise so much money each time we hold the activity.”

They have currently raised £1200.

Mr Kelly added: “We chose the charity because they work with children the same age as children in our own school, improving the quality of the children’s lives.”
