Walking to spread peace in the town

Saturday saw the 18th Annual Peace Walk in Luton held in Farley Hill. Groups and individuals across all ages, faiths and cultures demonstrated a solid commitment towards solidarity with more than 200 people braving the rain.

The day started at Farley Market Square decorated by ribbons and peace messages by the three local schools , Hillborough Junior, St Margaret of Scotland Catholic Primary and Farley Junior. The schools also captured walkers’ imagination with a Peace Mural unveiled at Farley Community Centre. This followed by visiting different places of namely St Margaret Catholic Church, Farley Methodist Church where a Hymn for peace was sung. A photographic presentation on the ‘Faith, Camera, Action, Luton’ project showing a story of commonality which Lyndsay Baker took at Luton Central Mosque and All Saints Church. The day ended at St John the Baptist Anglican Church. Fruit bushes were planted at the vicarage garden by the presidents of the Farley Mosque, the Jewish Orthodox Synagogue, the leader of the Brama Kumari and the schools.
