A year ago on Thursday the Luton and Dunstable Guided Busway was opened to the public.

The £91m project, £80m of which was government funded, was lauded as a way to ease congestion on the roads of both towns as well as a scheme to boost the amount of residents using public transport.

Despite this figures from the first quarter of its operation showed that passenger levels were just 41% of what was predicted in a 2008 business case for the project.

Though not released yet the second quarter figures are said to ‘closely match’ the first batch, which showed 346,854 passenger journeys between October and December 2013.

A year on the Luton News/Dunstable Gazette asks, has the scheme provided value for money?

> Vote in the poll (on the right) and the result will be published in both papers on Wednesday, when it is hoped that second quarter passenger figures will also be revealed
