A section of Waller Avenue will be closed for two weeks from Monday, September 15, for essential reconstruction of the road surface. The road will be closed on a 24-hour basis between its junction with Beechwood Road and Dunstable Road. Diversions will be in place for drivers.
No vehicles will be allowed in or out of the works area, except for access to the Chiltern Hotel and Tyre City.
Vehicles that are usually parked in this section of Waller Avenue must be removed by 7am, on Monday, September 15.
Contractor are anticipated to be working on site seven days a week, from 7.30am till 6pm, Monday to Friday and from 8.30am till 6pm, Saturday and from 9.30am till 5pm on Sunday.
Councillor Dave Taylor said: “Although it is not possible to work throughout the night in this residential area, by working during the weekends we have been able to schedule reopening of Waller Avenue on Monday 29 September.
“Resurfacing is essential to ensure that Luton’s roads are kept in good condition for drivers. We always do everything we can to ensure that we keep disruption to an absolute minimum while they are being carried out but do apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
