Want a job? Fancy changing your job? Then come along to Luton’s Employment,Training and Skills (LETS) Fair on Thursday September 18 at Venue Central.

Supported by Luton Borough Council, Job Centre Plus, Community Interest Luton and other local organisations, the fair offers local residents the chance to expand their job and career options.

It also gives them the chance to network with hundreds of like-minded people including local employers with job opportunities, apprenticeship providers, representatives from colleges and universities, training providers and organisations committed to helping job seekers, Job Centre Plus and careers advisers.

With more than 50 stand holders under one roof, a wide range of employers will be on hand to review resumes, introduce company culture and discuss job possibilities.

Those who should find the fair particularly helpful include the unemployed, those claiming jobseeker’s allowance and/or employment support allowance, young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs), those looking for apprenticeship opportunities, experienced working adults wishing to change their job, life-long learners, lone parents, fresh graduates and 16+ students.

There will also be help on hand for those planning to set up their own business.

The LETS fair is also a great chance for businesses to network and meet local talent.

Cllr Sian Timoney, portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “Most job seekers could use a little help to get back into employment.

“Our LETS fair in February attracted 1,340 delegates. Jobcentre Plus have informed us that 337 people came off the benefits system following attendance at the LETS fair with job seekers successfully matched to potential employers.”

She added: “We want to help our workforce gain new skills and help local employers address any recruitment issues and skills gaps.

“Anyone attending the fair is sending out a clear message to employers that they are keen and eager to work.

“It is nonsense to suggest there are no jobs or relevant training opportunities in Luton, and the Council is doing everything it can to help and encourage people to expand their minds, find jobs and prepare for the future.”

Thefair is free to enter and is being held at Venue Central, 17-19 Chapel Street. Luton on September 18 from 10am-3.30pm.
