Two police constables appeared before magistrates on Monday accused of assaulting a 33-year-old autistic man in Luton.
PC Christopher Thomas ,33, from Welwyn Garden City is accused of racially aggravated assault on Faruk Ali, assault by beating, perverting the course of public justice and misconduct in public office.
PC Christopher Pitts, 39 from Bedford, is charged with perverting the course of justice and misconduct in public office.
Both men made a brief appearance at Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court, where their case was transferred to Amersham crown court. They were charged after officers from Leicestershire Police carried out an investigation into events outside Mr Ali’s home in Whitby Road, Luton on February 20 this year.
