A local delivery company has unveiled a plaque to commemorate 20 years since founding the UK’s largest independent parcel delivery network.

Together with 43 other delivery companies across the UK, G B Couriers Limited on London Road, Dunstable, became part of APC Overnight back in 1994, and has grown substantially ever since. As part of the unique structure of APC Overnight, G B Couriers Limited is able to offer customers a nationwide next day parcel delivery service.

In the 20 years since 1994, APC Overnight has sustained a period of considerable growth thanks to the co-operative nature of the company. Today, the network boasts 115 independently-owned delivery depots nationwide and has a turnover in excess of £88 million.

Since being originally founded back in 1993, G B Couriers Limited has established a loyal base of local customers. The London Road courier now serves more than 100 Bedfordshire businesses.

The business puts its success down to the determination of its drivers and office staff to go above and beyond the call of duty.

At the unveiling, Depot Manager, Tracey Scott said: “It is absolutely fantastic to be able to celebrate this milestone with our staff.

“The last 20 years have been hugely successful for our business, having seen us join forces with a national network of like-minded delivery companies.”

“Given the introduction of the internet and more sophisticated ways to process parcels, the business we operate today has evolved completely from the one we ran 20 years ago. We can only hope that our success continues in the same vein for the next 20 years.”
