A 25-year-old woman is hoping to raise hundreds for Alzheimer’s Society, after signing up for the Memory Walk on Saturday, September 6.
Claire Kenna, of Luton, has already raised over £500 for the charity.
Her nan, Brenda, was diagnosed with dementia in 2013 and will be joining Claire at Priory Country Park for the walk.
Ms Kenna said: “It is very scary to hear a family member has dementia, we did not know very much about it and what to expect. You never think it will happen to you”
The event is a day for people living with dementia and their carers to come together and raise awareness and funds.
She added: “I think at the moment my nan is feeling a little alone, but I am certain if she meets people in the same position as her she will gain in confidence and understanding.
“Having support services like these are great and I am pleased to be fundraising to help the charity to continue to provide them.”
