A woman was left with life threatening injuries after a serious crash on the M1 northbound outside Luton this morning.
Two cars and two HGVs were involved in the collision between junctions 11 and 12 at just after 1am.
A woman sustained serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Luton and Dunstable Hospital.
She is expected to be transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Another person involved in the collision was treated for non life threatening injuries.
Police attended the incident and closed all four lanes, putting in place a diversion around the vehicles.
The road was reopened at around 9am but a large amount of congestion remains.
A Beds Police spokesperson confirmed to Luton News that the force are now waiting on a collision report.
