Almost 5,000 children have already taken up the Summer Reading Challenge in Central Bedfordshire this year. But the challenge doesn’t end until Saturday, 6 September.
There’s still time to race down to your local library as soon as possible to register for the UK’s biggest reading event! Remember, as well as enjoying some fantastic books and picking up fun rewards, thanks to sponsorship from the Wates Family Enterprise Trust, you’ll be helping Keech Hospice Care.
Don’t forget to check out what’s happening at your local library. Don’t forget to check out what’s happening at your local library. There’s monstrous fun in the Mythical Maze, with Medusa mask-making at Shefford (temporarily moved to Shefford Lower School Library), mermaids and Nessie making a splash in Flitwick, and dragons swooping down on Houghton Regis and Leighton Buzzard. At Barton Library, there’ll be some very fishy things going on, followed by ice cream crafts that just can’t be licked! At Sandy and Toddington, there’s holiday fun beside the sea and in faraway places. In Stotfold you can grow your own fun with plant crafts; or have a girly pamper session at Flitwick. Visit www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/libraries for information on what is happening near you and when.
Leighton Buzzard Library Theatre is also joining in the Mythical fun! Join creative professionals from Full House Theatre for drama, mask making and movement workshops. Whether you have loads of performance experience or none at all, if you are between 7 -12 years old, come along for inspiring activities and playful games with a myth, maze and magic theme. Tickets are £6 or stay for the day for just £10. Call box office on 0300 300 8125 to book and visit www.leightonbuzzardlibrarytheatre.co.uk for more information.
