LUTON burns survivor Shamiam Arif is growing up fast.
Now nine and a popular pupil at Foxdell Junior School, she still has regular check-ups with ‘Uncle Doctor’ - Mr Peter Dziewulski, specialist reconstructive surgeon and newly appointed Burns Service Director at Broomfield Hospital’s St Andrew’s Centre.
He has waived his fee for the feisty little girl who suffered devastating injuries as a baby when her bedding was inadvertently set alight by a candle in her Kashmir home.
The Herald&Post has been at the forefront of an appeal to cover the cost of her ongoing treatment.
Shamiam now needs to see a consultant dermatologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital as her skin has become sore and inflamed.
