A TALENTED chef, who mastered his trade at a Luton college, is celebrating after his culinary skills won him a place in the final of TV’s Masterchef: The Profesionals.
Viewers saw Barnfield College craft catering graduate Steve Barringer, 25, wow the judges on Monday night’s show with his starter of thinly sliced beef with blue cheese beignets and pickled, pureed and deep fried beetroot followed by a main of chicken ballotine with dumplings, roast chicken breast, lardons, cubed and pureed pumpkin with a bacon and mustard sauce.
Putting Steve through to the final three, judge Gregg Wallace said: “I don’t think he thinks like other chefs, I think he’s unique.”
Steve told the Luton News: “The experience has been pretty amazing. the feedback I’ve been getting from family and friends and my fiance, whose backed me all the way through has been excellent.
“Some people didn’t realise how good I am until they’ve seen me on TV and now they’re really proud of me.
“The first day was pretty nerve-wracking, but there was 10 of us and we were all in the same boat, none of us knew what to expect.”
