A LUTON-based security company has won a six-figure contract to supply guard dogs to the Harry Potter film studio complex near Watford.

Arbeiten of Leagrave High Street was founded by former window cleaner and market stallholder Nick Eggleton seven years ago.

“It’s a massive contract for the company,” said Nick, whose firm is based in the offices above his wife Lisa’s Solutions Laser Clinic.

“It has given us kudos among other companies.”

The contract came as the result of personal recommendation from Knightsbridge Guarding and saw Arbeiten beat off some big national names for the plum job.

Nick, who employs seven other dog owners, started off by taking his pet German shepherd to training school and being told that Simba would make a great police dog.

“I thought I could make a business out of it,” said Nick who hopes the big contract will give him the opportunity to branch into dog training. Sadly Simba has since died.

Arbeiten has provided security dogs for all the Harry Potter films at Leavesden and other high profile jobs including Big Brother and Batman, which were filmed at Cardington.

Nick said the company hopes to fill 15 more full-time positions over the next year.
