A LUTON coach company is helping Rugby World Cup winner Lawrence Dallaglio and cricket legend Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff in a mammoth charity cycle ride.

Premier Connections Travel, based near Luton Airport, has been selected to provide the support coach for the Dallaglio-Flintoff 2012 Cycle Slam.

Between April 23 and May 18, Dallaglio and Flintoff will cycle 2,862km across Europe from the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games – Olympia, in Greece – to the venue for this year’s Olympic Games, London, to raise funds for Cancer Research and Great Ormond Street Hospital via Lawrence and Freddie’s charitable foundations.

Jamie Gardner, managing director of Premier Connections, has volunteered to be one of the driving team donating his services free of charge and will be getting on a bike for parts of the trip.

Premier driver Peter Schofield has also volunteered to donate a part of his income to reduce the cost of the trip.

A brand new, 76 seat, Over-Decker Coach will leave the Luton base of Premier Connections, en route for Athens Airport from where it will collect the 70 plus party of cyclists taking part in this epic event. The newly designed coach will then follow, and support, the cyclists throughout their journey from the original Olympic Games site to the London Olympic Park.

Premier Connections has accepted the challenge of raising the money needed to cover the coach cost and so are requesting donations from the good people of Luton and Dunstable to cover the £25,000 needed.

All cheques sent payable to Premier Connections Travel Ltd, and marked on the envelope and back of the cheque as 2012 Cycle Slam will be credited to the Dallaglio–Flintoff account.
