Detectives in Luton are appealing for information following an incident in Dumfries Street during which two men were stabbed last night (Tuesday Jan 31).

A 33-year-old man is critically ill at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital following emergency surgery, while the second victim, his father aged 60, was treated for his injury at hospital and released.

The incident happened at around 7.50pm. The men were at home with their respective wives and a young child when three masked men knocked on the door. As it was opened the offenders forced their way into the property before carrying out a violent assault on the younger man, inflicting multiple stab wounds, and slightly injuring the older man. The offenders then left in a white van. No one else in the house was injured.

The road was cordoned off for sometime but later re-opened to the public. The house remains under police guard while further forensic work is carried out today.

Officers from the Serious Crime Investigation team are appealing for anyone who has information about the incident to contact them in confidence.

If you have information relating to this incident, Bedfordshire Police in confidence on the non emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
