ENGLAND cricketer Monty Panesar has taken time out from his side’s tour of the United Arab Emirates to make an appeal for Luton to be awarded city status.
The Luton-born spin bowler, who is currently starring in England’s series against Pakistan, has put his name to a popular online petition calling for the town to be granted city status to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
He said: “I want others to join me in signing up to the Love Luton e-petition which will help us get city status.
“Having grown up in Luton, I know it is a place where you can realise your dreams and fulfill your potential. This is a great way to show how proud you are to come from Luton.”
