A LUTON waste management company has been recognised as a leader in its field for the second year running.
Cawleys, in Covent Garden Close, has won the accolade for best sustainable resource management programme in the Greenbang Efficiency Awards.
Cawleys environmental consultancy division WasteSolve has been working with the Adelie Food Group, in Milton Keynes, and the University of Hertfordshire to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill closer to zero.
Last year Cawleys won two Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) awards, an award from the Association for Organics Recycling (AFOR), and was a finalist in both The Grocer Gold Awards and Green Business Awards.
Cawleys’ head of customer service, Anna Cawley, is one of the third generation of the family to work in the business, which has been providing resource management services for more than 60 years.
She said: “It’s fantastic to be recognized with awards for the work we do with our clients. Despite the tough economic climate, it’s still important to look after our environment, and we’re very proud of the achievements our customers have made in diverting waste from landfill and addressing different waste streams.
“The awards prove that imagination, innovation and hard work are a winning combination. The Greenbang award was the icing on the cake for a tremendous year for Cawleys.”
