POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a series of metal thefts from electricity substations in Luton.
Between December 17, 2011 and January 11, 2012 there have been four separate instances where thieves have stolen the Earth cable from substations in Eagle Close, Coltsfoot Green, Butely Road and Ravenhill Way.
Sgt Ruth Connelly of the Luton West Local Policing Team, said: “The theft of cabling from an electricity substation is extremely dangerous, not only to the thief, but also to the properties that the substation serves. Is a tiny amount of metal really worth risking lives for?
