GRADUATES looking to make tracks with their career have a chance to break into the rail industry, thanks to a new scheme.

First Capital Connect, which runs services between Bedford and Brighton, is one of 25 companies taking part in the Track And Train project.

Graduates who have left university in the last two years can sign up for 18 months, split into three six-month placements. This will be made up of one spell working at Network Rail, and two more at either a passenger or freight operator, or another company within the rail sector. The wage will be £33,000 a year.

The scheme is targeted at young people who have either found themselves unemployed since graduation, or who have been employed in non-graduate roles.

Applications close in Friday, January 27 at www.trackandtrain.org.uk
