A teenager murdered in Luton last night has been named locally as Ryan Burke.
Police were called to a disturbance in Milliners Court, in Milliners Way, off Biscot Road, at 10.43pm and found a 19-year-old had suffered a stab wound.
He was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital where he died soon after arrival.
Friends have been leaving tributes on Twitter and Facebook.
Sophie McMillan tweeted: “RIP Ryan Burke can’t believe it man such a nice boy we all miss you at work sleep tight thoughts with your family and close ones.”
Christina Leo said: “Rest in peace Ryan Burke, you were taken too soon!”
Bedfordshire Police said the victim’s name would not be released until a post mortem had been carried out to confirm the cause of death and a formal identification has taken place.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and was due to be questioned by detectives today.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector John Arthur, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Team, is keen to trace anyone who has information relating to the disturbance.
Det Insp Arthur said: “Scenes of Crime Officers together with detectives will be in the Milliners Court area today conducting a forensic examination of the area and speaking with residents about what happened last night. Although we have arrested a person in connection with this incident I would still urge anyone who has information relating to the disturbance and subsequent death of this man to come forward and help piece together exactly what happened.”
