Two men have been arrested in connection with the murder of 46-year-old Paul Foster in Luton on Tuesday night.

A Bedfordshire Police spokesman said a 21-year-old Luton man was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday at an address in the town.

A second man, aged 24 and also from Luton, handed himself in at Luton Police Station yesterday afternoon.

Both were questioned by detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit and released on police bail while investigations continue.

Mr Foster was shot after an incident outside a house in Brunel Road just before midnight on Tuesday. He died at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital a short while later from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Beds Police have confirmed this morning that Mr Foster was the uncle of Delaney Brown, who was murdered in Leagrave in September.

Detectives are not currently linking the two cases but say they are keeping an open mind as to why Mr Foster was killed.

Det Supt Jeff Hill, head of the Major Crime Unit, this morning urged anyone who had information about the murder but had not yet spoken to police should come forward.

He said: “I would remind members of the public that although two men have been arrested in connection with this investigation there have been no charges at this time. This is still an ongoing investigation.

“Remember we all need to work together to put a stop to this type of violence which has left Paul’s wife, children and family devastated.

“We know there are people in the community who have information who at this time have not come forward. Witness evidence is a key factor in this investigation so it is of paramount importance that anyone with even the slightest piece of information contacts the police.

“Obviously there may be some people who are not willing to speak directly to officers but I would reassure these people that they can speak with detectives confidentially or alternatively they can contact Crimestoppers, completely anonymously.”

Contact the Major Crime Unit on 01707 355959, text information to 07786 200011, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
