A Luton-based company has continued its run of being seen as one of the country’s top employers.

Vauxhall Motors, based in Osborne Road, has appeared in the top 10 for the second year running based on research conducted by the CRF Institute.

The CRF Institute, a specialist in the field of international research into HR management and working conditions, has completed this year’s research into policies and practices of a large number of businesses in Britain. Vauxhall Motors is one of the few organisations that received the Britain’s Top Employers 2013 certification.

Organisations were assessed on primary benefits, secondary benefits and working conditions, training and development, career development, and culture management. Only those organisations that met the stringent research criteria received the Britain’s Top Employers certification.

Eleanor Nickerson, Manager of UK Operations for the CRF Institute said: “The economy has been tough for the UK during the past year, but we’ve consistently seen our certified Top Employers showing that they value their talent by making sure that they have outstanding employee offerings in place. We’ve also seen a shift towards more coaching, mentoring and training, as employers seek to ensure that they develop employees and that attractive career opportunities are in place for them. We have seen a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programmes that are well-thought-out and truly aligned with the culture of each company.”

Vauxhall employee Natalie Kennett, a retail network planner, said: “I completed my internship with Vauxhall and then returned to join as a graduate in 2011. The culture is supportive, friendly, you can voice your views and you are listened to. I have always received full support in gaining lots of experience, and in particular I had an incredible opportunity to work on-site for three weeks at a retailer. At Vauxhall I have the ability to progress in practically any area I want to go. ”

Phil Millward, HR Director UK & Ireland at Vauxhall Motors said: “At Vauxhall we aim to be the best automotive company in the UK and we recognise that people are at the heart of our organisation to achieve our future sustainability and growth.

“We have 110 years of heritage and our employees have great pride in working for such a customer-focused and forward-thinking organisation. Our commitment to providing opportunities and growing future generations is supported by our work experience, apprentice and undergraduate programmes.

“Our family-spirit culture consists of trust, honesty and respect, and we put massive importance on our long-standing, strong relationship with our trade union partners. Being named one of Britain’s Top Employers 2013 shows that we are doing as well as we had hoped. We are extremely proud to be part of this exclusive group of great employers.”
