Could you make a real difference to someone’s life? Are you interested in a satisfying job that you can do in your own home?
Luton Borough Council is relaunching a campaign to recruit Shared Life carers who can offer a home and support to vulnerable adults.
They would like to hear from residents who would welcome an adult with learning disabilities into their home on a short term, permanent or emergency basis.
Shared Life carers are there to help with daily tasks such as cooking, shopping, laundry, study, socialising and exercise.
Rent, expenses and full training are provided.
Current carers range from ordinary families to couples and single people and the council is keen to recruit those from different backgrounds, skill sets and experiences.
The scheme helps adults with learning disabilities live happy and independent lives in the community by taking part in activities such as swimming, going to the cinema, restaurants, theatres and music events.
Spokeswoman Pam Garraway said: “This is a life-changing opportunity . . . it is a unique and rewarding experience for which no qualifications are needed.”
