Mother’s day isn’t always a joyful celebration with a much cherished mum.
It can also be a sad reminder of a lost loved one.
It will be a time of poignant reminiscences for Christopher Ford of Bushmead Road in Luton, whose garden-mad mother Maureen lost her battle with lung cancer a year ago.
He said: “Mum was 77 when she died and I was unprepared to lose her.
“I’m not yet over her death but it helps me tremendously to know how well she was looked after at Keech Hospice Care and that I was there with her the whole time in those final days.
“The standard of care was simply amazing.
“During Mum’s last few days, I didn’t have to leave Mum’s side. I was provided with meals, drinks and a bed – something that never would have happened in a hospital.
“Keech was there for me and my family and that is something I will never forget.”
