‘Hey cancer, kiss my butt’

There’s some tough talking in this year’s TV campaign promoting Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

Last year’s soft slogan ‘Together we can beat cancer’ has been replaced by the far more hard-hitting ‘Cancer, we’re coming to get you.’

And supporting posters are equally upfront.

One sneers ‘Hey cancer, kiss my butt’ while another challenges ‘Oi, cancer. You. Me. Outside now.’

Luton event manager Gemma Kitching explained: “We want to make cancer the enemy that women and sponsors can unite against. We’re calling on people to join our fight.”

She added: “One in three people is affected directly by cancer and almost everyone is affected indirectly.”

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, June 23 at Stockwood Park.

Gemma is encouraging mums and daughters to sign up for Mother’s Day.

She said: “It’s a special occasion when we all acknowledge the universal truth – mums make the world go round!

“Race for Life is a great excuse to spend quality time together walking, jogging or even dancing round the 5km route.”

To enter go to www.raceforlife.org or call 0845 600 6050.
