Unite, Britain’s largest union, says it is supporting the proposed expansion of Luton Airport.
It says the promise of 5,000 jobs and a boost to the local economy means the views of campaigners opposed to the expansion “should not be allowed to stand in the way of sensible growth and development”.
Unite national officer Oliver Richardson said: “Supporting the expansion of Luton airport is common sense. It will create jobs and boost the local economy.
“The ‘not in my back yard’ mentality cannot be allowed to get in the way of these crucial plans.
“Unite fully supports the proposals along with the majority of respondents who took part in a consultation on the expansion.”
