A woman was threatened with a screwdriver in a raid at a bookmakers in Leagrave High Street last night (February 20).
The female employee was working at Ladbrokes at about 9.50pm when she went to assist a customer known to her as ‘Martin’ with a machine.
As she approched him, he produced a screwdriver and pushed her to one side before going behind the counter, stealing money from the till and then fleeing the shop.
Det Sgt Chris Beresford said: “This incident has left the member of staff extremely shaken up and it is important that we catch this offender as soon as possible. The shop’s CCTV camera has captured the entire incident and I would urge anyone who recognises this individual to come forward.
“We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the aggravated burglary or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us. Don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”
Detectives have released CCTV images of the man they wish to speak to in connection with the aggravated burglary
The offender is described as being a white male, in his late teens or early 20s, around six feet five inches tall, of slender build and wearing a dark hooded top, light coloured jogging bottoms which were covered with paint marks and white Nike trainers which were ‘chunky’.
