Staff and students at Lea Manor High School, Luton, are celebrating being among the 100 best improving secondary schools in the country.
The Minister of State of Schools, David Laws, sent the high school and performing arts college a letter of congratulations on their achievement.
Performance of schools across the country was assessed by the Government by examining students’ achievements in five GCSEs – English, maths and students’ three best other GCSEs.
Headteacher Christine Lenihan said: “Our success is due to good teaching, hard work and commitment from our students, and support from our families. We also developed new strategies last year which included better tracking of students’ progress.
“As a performing arts college, we were also able to enrich the English curriculum through drama and theatre visits. I would like to thank the local authority consultants for their support and the Luton Futures schools for sharing their strategies for success.”
