An old Luton engineering name is coming to the fore internationally as a company looks to pump up its market position.
A general meeting of Specialist Energy Group’s shareholders has decided to change the name of the company to that of its main operating business, Hayward Tyler.
Pump maker Hayward Tyler has been in Luton since 1815 and the firm is redeveloping its site in Kimpton Road and investing in staff training.
Company chief executive Ewan Lloyd-Baker said: “Hayward Tyler has a global reputation within the power generation and oil and gas markets for being a market leader in the design, engineering, supply and servicing of mission critical motors and pumps – we now are looking to capitalise fully on that market position in the coming year.”
Over the last year the company has shaken up the way it operates and ended the year with an order intake of £34.5 million for 2012, a near 10 per cent increase over 2011.
It has grown in international oil and gas markets where it has seen orders valued at nearly £7 million and power generation markets.
