Worried residents expecting to lose their homes in the next couple of months have started an e-petition calling for the Government to take action.
The tenants who live in houses owned by the Highways Agency have been told the properties will be put on the market and they will have to move out.
In the e-petition they call for the Department of Transport to gift the properties to Luton Borough Council, who have been unsuccessful so far in trying to negotiate a deal with the Highways Agency.
The petitioners, who represent around 30 families, have called their campaign “Terrified tenants versus greedy government” and already have 80 signatures on the e-petition.
If they reach 100,000 signatures the issue will be considered for debate in the House of Commons.
