Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorist was robbed in Parys Road, Luton on Saturday (January 5).

The incident happened between 9pm and 9.30pm when the driver of a black Audi was forced to brake for a man who stepped into the road.

The man approached the front window and threatened the 33-year-old driver with a sword.

He forced the driver to get out of the car and hand over cash before the victim managed to get back in the vehicle and leave the scene.

The offender is described as a black man, aged between 20 and 22, 6ft tall and of medium build. He wore a black or brown jacket and was clean shaven.

Investigating officer DC Matt Shepherd is keen to trace a woman who approached the victim’s girlfriend, who was sitting in the passenger seat.

He said: “She is described as black, between 19 and 20 years old, 5ft 2in to 5ft 5in tall and wearing a dark top with red trousers.

“It is unclear whether this woman was with the offender or if she was a member of the public.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area to contact us to help with this investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Shepherd in confidence on 01582 394448, or Beds Police on 101 or text 07792 200011.

Or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
